The Heredia Campus
The massage therapist training program at CRSIM is located in the heart of Heredia, a northern-lying community of San Jose, Costa Rica. In the foothills of extinct Volcano Barva and away from the crowds and traffic of downtown, Heredia is a historic, colonial city. It is also home to one of the largest universities in Costa Rica, National University of Costa Rica.
It is here in this tropical and academic setting that future therapists are able to clear their minds, explore a new culture and put the healing art of massage therapy to practice.
Outside of class, students are able to take advantage of both urban and natural activities in and around Heredia. There are a number of restaurants and bars in the city center ranging from local sodas serving plates of rice, beans & meat, to vegetarian cuisine, to dance clubs. Students also have access to a number of bookstores, shops and everyday amenities.
Just outside Heredia's center, nature takes over. In the immediate vicinity well known parks are easily accessible by bus. Monte de la Cruz Park is a privately owned preserve with a number of pine and cloud forest trails offering panoramic vistas of Heredia and beyond. INBioparque is a unique theme park promoting interactions with Costa Rica's plant and animal worlds.
These are just a number of things students find to do outside the classroom. They also spend as much time enjoying life in Heredia with their host families. Teaching students about the customs and current events of Costa Rica, our families share their lives, forming lasting friendships for years to come.
Heredia's tropical and academic surroundings guarantee a fresh canvas for students to clear their minds, apply their knowledge and test their own comfort zones. This unique combination ultimately makes our students stronger therapists that stand out to their future clients.
